CCSD Students Win Display in Statewide Art Exhibits

Five Cherokee County School District students recently won the opportunity to display their artwork at statewide events!

Artwork by three students was selected for the Atlanta High School Art Exhibit, with two students’ artwork chosen for the Georgia Capitol Art Exhibit.

Congratulations to our students and their teachers and thank you to our School Board for its investment in our fine arts programs!

Cherokee High School junior Grace Dai, for the painting “Forever,” and Etowah High School senior Abby Roach, for the mixed-media sculpture “Unspoken Truth,” and junior Lydia Paul, for the painting “The Repetition of an Orchestra,” were selected for the Atlanta High School Art Exhibit.  The highly competitive juried show established in 1970 and connected to the Atlanta Dogwood Festival receives more than 600 entries annually from students across the state.  The festival is next month and their art teachers are Morgan Clifton of Cherokee HS and Shannah Dean of Etowah HS.

Hasty ES Fine Arts Academy fifth-grader Kaden Jenkins and second-grader Abigail Davis were selected for the Georgia Capitol Art Exhibit.  Organized by the Georgia Art Education Association, it is the largest school art competition in the state and has been in operation for more than 50 years.  The students were honored at the exhibit’s opening reception earlier this month at the State Capitol with their art teacher, Dr. Lisa Spence.
