CCSD Improves Overall College and Career Readiness, Exceeds State Averages

The Cherokee County School District improved its overall college and career readiness performance index scores at each school level this past school year and continues to exceed state scores.

The Georgia Department of Education today released 2024 College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI) scores, which assess student future readiness using 2023-24 Georgia Milestones Assessment System test scores, student course enrollment, and Class of 2024 high school graduation rates.  While results from these individual measures are released throughout the year, the CCRPI process uses additional formulas to evaluate and compare the data.

CCSD saw increases in each of the five components that make up the CCRPI scores, as compared to the previous school year’s performance, and saw those improvements across all three levels: elementary, middle, and high.

“Congratulations to our students on your amazing success and thank you to our teachers, support staff, and school and district leaders for your exceptional professionalism and dedication to elevating the excellence for our students,” Superintendent of Schools Mary Elizabeth Davis said.  “Thank you to our School Board members for prioritizing and investing in student success and for their continuing work to strengthen accountability.”

For Content Mastery, which measures student achievement in core content areas, CCSD earned scores of 79.3 for elementary, up from 77.1 the previous school year, and exceeding the state score of 67.8; 74.2 for middle, up from 69.4, and exceeding Georgia’s 64.0; and 81.7 for high school, up from 80.6, and exceeding Georgia’s 68.2.

For Progress, which compares how students, by similar academic achievement levels, are improving in academic achievement, CCSD earned scores of 89.6 for elementary, up from 88.5 the previous school year, and exceeding the state score of 86.2; 81.4 for middle, up from 76.5, and slightly below Georgia’s 82.3; and 85.4 for high school, up from 83.0, and exceeding Georgia’s 82.7.

For Closing Gaps, which compares how students, by student groups, are improving in academic achievement, CCSD earned scores of 100.0 for elementary, up from 48.2 the previous school year, and matching the state score of 100; 77.8 for middle, up from 33.3, and exceeding Georgia’s 68.3; and 55.6 for high school, up from 54.2, and below Georgia’s 81.7.
